It has been a while since I did one of these, so I figured I would explain myself.

With only one exam remaining (tomorrow morning by the way), my focus is now split into two factions; the Bristol Design Festival and the Bloodhound Project. As Bloodhound does not kick off until the 22nd June, and I have planned blog posts specifically for it, my focus is really on the Bristol Design Festival.

Last year I entered the Grafikea competition. This year I am doing the same. And exhibiting. And volunteering for the event. And tweeting the event. And blogging the festival.

This is quite a big involvement on my part, both with preparation time for my exhibition and for all of the other media activities. Here then are a few links to everything BDF related, so you can keep up to date with the festival and my contribution to it.

This is quite a big involvement on my part, both with preparation time for my exhibition and for all of the other media activities. Here then are a few links to everything BDF related, so you can keep up to date with the festival and my contribution to it.

The website for the BDF <

The blog of the festival, which I have been invited to guest blog on (and am very grateful for the chance to do it) <

Vintage Verity – The Press and PR Manager – An interesting blog worth a look at <

John Bradford – Another blogger, like me <

Karen Dawe – A great blog writer, who is a member of our blogging team <

A very quick post I must admit, but it should give you plenty to follow from the 5th to the 11th June 2009…

If you want to get involved, like me, here is how you can:

Sponsor <

A few links to some interesting pieces of design work...

One of many projects I am currently working on involves taking a product worth less than £20 and made from 3 components or less and redesigning it. As you can imagine, the range of products that have been chosen is vast, but i have decided to focus on designing a business card holder for Moo.

There are however some interesting pieces of design that I have found that relate to other people’s projects, so here are a few links;

Ice cube trays – a massive collection of various designs <

The construction of Settlers, one of the world’s biggest selling board games that I hadn’t even heard of <

MIT design what I think could eventually beat the iPhone… let us see how long it takes for either Microsoft or Google to buy it… <

A cost calculator for freelancers <

A really nice idea for a fruit bowl, perhaps it could be adapted for other things such as drying boards <

And finally, my favourite image from FailBlog this month so far, just because I think it is pure genius and appeals to my student / engineering humour <

Today's Quicklinks for articles and pages of interest...

With my fondness for Twitter only increasing with my new iPhone, plus my continual reading of design and industry related articles online, I have decided to follow the lead of Drew Batchelor and start posting some links to stuff I enjoy. Here are a few from the past few days…

Twitter has plans on how it is going to make some money <

A fantastic array of Twitter ‘Fail Whale’ inspired art <

A product that does almost exactly what my Greener Gadget competition entry did is <

How bad energy consumption is in manufacture <

The Atkins Project in rapid manufacture <

And finally, as not all of my life revolves around design (although granted, most of it does), here is the link to the Just Giving page that myself and a few friends have. We have entered into the Oxfam Trailwalker event, and I shall spare you all the promotion, just read the page <
