It is always worth keeping an eye on your competition, and the influence of other designers can have a major impact on your own work. For these reasons, I continuously follow the blogs and coroflot pages of other designers, whether on my course or just a designer I find fascinating. From personal experience though I understand that design (and life) is not just about how to promote yourself visually, but also how well you present yourself in words. Words are very powerful, and in the right order and situation can stimulate powerful emotions.
It is really disappointing then to find time and time again that a fellow designer has produced a presentation board (with often stunning graphics, brilliant renderings and an excellent layout) with a spelling mistake. I am not suggesting that I never make any spelling mistakes, but in the day of word processing and spell checkers, it doesn’t hurt to make sure that the illusion created by your otherwise striking board isn’t destroyed by a slip of the keyboard…
